EXCITING Announcement!

This is not a regularly scheduled post.  In fact, you won't even be staying on this blog page once you finish reading my tiny note.  Instead, you will be going HERE .  Why will you be going HERE, you ask? You will be going HERE because HERE is Studio30Plus and HERE is where I am Friday's Featured Writer!!

I know, right? Shocking!! Believe me, I too was skeptical when I was approached by them about a month ago.  But The Women In Charge told me they had read my stuff and knew what I was about and still wanted me to be the Featured Writer for Friday, January 25, 2013.

Studio30Plus is an online community for writers over the age of 30. Whether you're a published author, a writer looking to get published, a novelist, poet, biographer, memoirist, blogger or just keeping a journal Studio30Plus is the place to go to share and discuss your writing.

I will admit I dragged my feet for months about whether or not to join the site. Sharing my writing with friends and family and even a few strangers is pretty easy.  Since many of you have to see me face-to-face occasionally, the criticism is kept to a minimum and the praise is freely given.  No one wants to tell you that you stink and then face you in the school parking lot for pick up.  But sharing my stuff with "real writers" is terrifying.  After some encouragement and a command from a few friends to do it before the New Year (thank you H.T. and M.B.) I decided to take the plunge on Christmas Eve. I joined and posted my first piece.

I was pleased to receive an email 2 days later from one of the site moderators asking me to be a Featured Writer within the next month.  Needless to say I was a little bit excited and a whole lot terrified.  But that's why I joined in the first place, right? To grow as a writer and step outside my comfort zone.

My Featured Writer piece will post tomorrow, Friday, January 25th! It will read exactly like the blog posts you've come to expect.  Yes, they know I'm a blogger and still wanted me to submit something. So, I'm coming to you Faithful Readers and New Followers for a bit of moral support.  You've been my cheerleaders and source of encouragement for the last 3+ years... Think you can do it one more time?

Here's what you do:
1. Please visit www.studio30plus.com on FRIDAY 1/25
2. Scroll down a bit and you will see the Features tab
3. Click on it and you should see a tiny picture of me (Yes, I made sure to pick a flattering one.  Yes, I went through about 30 different ones until I was satisfied;)
4. Read my post: "Raise Your Hand If You're Mediocre!"

Unfortunately, you will not be able to leave a comment if you are not a member of the site.  However, if you have any interest in writing whatsoever, I encourage you to join- It's free, no junk mail in your inbox, access to wonderfully talented people.  Well, most of the time;)

However, if you want to leave a comment you can come back and leave one on this page.  No pressure.  At all.  But I will know if you went over HERE or not and I will give you the cold shoulder at carpool next time I see you in the parking lot;)  Just kidding.
